God sends Jesus to be the instrument of his Word.  It is through Jesus that we know more God, naming him as our Father. Jesus is the living Word of God. That is why, he said that no one knows the Father except the Son and no one knows the Son except the Father. It is through Him that we can enter to His kingdom. 

In our time, the instrument of knowing others, liken to Jesus in knowing the Father, is through mass media. We watch news and we read newspapers in order to know the other’s situation: the bombing in Iraq, the economic recession in U.S., the situation of Kim Jong II, etc. It is a rapid development that no one would ever think. At the same time, mass media becomes an instrument in knowing the Word of God: publications, and other forms of spreading the Word of God. It is a great help in putting into practice what was the mandate of Jesus to his apostles: ”go to the end of the world and proclaim the Good News.”

However, opposite happens sometimes. Instead of using mass media in spreading the Good News, many people use this for the sake of profit. They only think what they can earn. They simply satisfy the sudden search of happiness of the people. Moral values and lessons are never their intention.  Young people are the main victims of this exploitation from the media. They cannot judge the value of what they see and what they hear. Rather, they simply response to the common trends set by mass media.

Do not be afraid! This is the word of the late Pope John Paul II that inspired me to be brave in facing the influences of mass media in our time. I should not be afraid in preaching the Word of God using mass media. I should be brave in putting into practice what Jesus said.

The internet is very useful to us. Like us we als0 use this  modern gadgets in our research work and also to communicate to our love ones . But sometimes  we don’t use wisely these instruments  fruitfully. we often used the internet by the fulfilling our pleasure  like watching x-rated movies and playing on-line games and this kind of attitude can’t help our spiritual life.

As a christian we must use the internet to proclaim the ”WORD OF GOD” to the people who don ‘t know Jesus Christ and also to use the internet blog by puting gospel reflection passage and put prayer on it. In this way we will help in our own  little way on the spiritual life of our neighbor. If we use the internet just  to fulfill our pleasure, I suggest that you don’t use the  internet becuase you are only wasting your time.

I’m encouraging the youth also to try to use the internet to read some articles of the church like catechism or reading spiritual book.I am also encouraging  my classmates in the media literacy to use our blog to preach  the good news.

Most of the products advertise today is not useful to our daily life and some of theme are not even true. Sometimes, the media is not saying the truth especially in the encounter. they are in fact promoting ad bringing evils to the people. A great example here are  advertisement of a things or products that promotes  promiscuity.  In reality these evil but then  they are presented as something and temporal pleasure good thus deluding us of the seeming good that it present. Advertisements operates in attraction,  a kind of luring. I’m not saying that all advertisement s are negative and evil in nature.  In  fact, the Church is recognizes the good that is possible in advertisement. For sure  such a marketing or public relation method  can also be used in building up the realization of the church’s mission of evangelization. Such a technique is feasible in promoting what is moral and spiritual and moral valuable. The problem sometimes is not only in the media which presents the advertisement the people who experience it. People must not let themselves be deceived  by the media. Not all we see good and true. Yet we must recognize that there is something good in them and there is truth to  wholesome advertisement.

The cinema can also a bearer of a negative if not sinful acts, words, and elements to the people especially the children who them.  Some of the programs in the television and the film, presented in the cinema are not good for the children.  Sometimes, the children are imitating what they see their favorite Shaw’s and characters in the television and film like hurting and discriminating, their fellows.  The problem her is that, the children perceive what they are seeing in thefilms and T.V as something real. something good of them may even conceive those  negative elements as something good the Church is concern about this. In her concern, the church appeals to the parents and the teachers, who are directly involved ifthe character formation of the young, In order to achieve her desired objective . The rules of the parents to their children is basically provided, protect, and to guide their themto what is good for them. Thus, the parents should guide and accompany them their children in the watching movies and shows that are fit for them. Yet should not only depends on parental guidance but also the teachers help. the teachers main concern is to academically educate and morally mold their students/pupils. Part of this formation of character is to enable thestudents and pupils to be analytic and critical om the things that are surroundinghem/he;  the teacher must enable to be sceptic in a scenes, on what what he/she receives especially in the media. In relation to the role of the parents and the teacher,  people behind the media especially that of the film and music industries also process the greater responsibility. they must see to it that what they produce in their respective medium( film, TV, shows printed elements,etc.)must be the good. For example , observe sences and violence should not be  the main theme in the movies and TV shows. People who are behind the media must first consider the effects to their audiences before presenting to them.

I am convinced by the statement in the document which states: ” it is enough to use media simply to spread the Christian message and the Church authentic teaching.”

Many dioceses today are emerging using communication technologies for evangelization but what about those have no money to buy a simple radio, can we do not consider the places which are not reached by electricity and much more, of those advancement in the communications technology? The Church needs to design pastors to preach to those areas. And those people who are assigned to bring the Good News to those areas must use the language that would be easily understood by the people who are the recipient of those message.

If the Church has this kind of organization for their activities, especially in proclaiming the Word of God, the message intended to those who are in far-distant will be heard and the Word of God will be known to the four corners of the world. This activity should be continuous so that a so-called dialogue will emerged. They, the Church and mass media, should help in fostering good values and better world. The Love of God should remain in this activity.

The challenge for us is to be an active partcipants on this said dialogue.

Today, many of the teenagers  are buying and watching pornographic films, and are also reading  pornographic magazines and other materials. If somehow we were caught by an younger brother or sister reading or watching such materials, our basic reaction would be to tell them not to say anything about what they saw. We even bribe them in order to ensure that they do as we have told them. Now, this kind of  event now influence them and eventually will regard what they see on the older people as all of the good and, as the document have stressed, worthy of imitation. Thus we the older people are not only using these stuff ( pornographic materials ) for our self – centered pleasure but we also contaminate the minds of the youger persons who are around us.

Today, new technologies are emerging and new products also. One of a help in endorsing these technologies and products is mass media. Mass media makes them available to the people. IT is very obvious in our society where billboards are everywhere; commercials are popping out in our television and others.

Moreover, mass media itself tries to see product that they are endorsing are good to the consumers. Especially in terms of morality  and religion, the people behind the mass media shuold think first the goodness of the commerciala that they are showing in the television. They should think that young people are part of the consumers as well. The morals lessons in the movies should  be ther always. The themes should always talk about love and peace and to the love olf God.

The goodness in the mass media is in the celebration of the holy mass through  televisions. This is good especially for those who cannot attend in mass. The recitation of the three O’clock Habit and the Holy Rosary is good since people should be aware of these prayers. Thus, it is the task  of the church to evangelize p[eople throufgh television, and this is not hard since many  of us ownrd television in our home. The church has the chance always to give the message of Christ to ohter people.

Today many sect are emerging and they are all presuming that they are the genuine and true religion.  through the use of media they communicate to the people easily, taking on this example is the Iglesia ni Cristo. 

The leader of the church is protecting the people. They are trained to be the future priest that some day will protect the church. They will be the next generation of priests that are more open to changes of the society without  forgetting who they are and what church they belong.

The Church needs to communicate through the use of media, not only confining herself to the pulpit. The  media is a great help to the church for preaching the words of salvation. The Church also provides and teaches the future priest to use tehcnology, in this way, they canl preach the good news all around the world. Technology itself will not be a problem to the Church, nor an evil to those who are conservatist.

Here, in this situation, I am a user, an spectator, a receiver and later on a teacher. Whatever I learned in my seminary life will be a great help for my own apostolate. This is for the greater Glory of God and for the salvation of souls. What is at stake in this situation is man’s destiny and his own salvation.

After I read the intermirifica, it came to my mind that it is famous because many knows it; especially the media. In particular, the advertisement about contraceptive; the media  is promoting it, and the church on the other hand is against to it and the sad  part of it is that most of our media men are catholics. But then in the end, man has still the choice to choose which is better.
